Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Hideaway Labs ("Crumb", "we", "us") covering the Crumb iOS app and the startcrumb.com website. By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Crumb through the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the extent it is not in conflict with these terms.

Crumb analyzes restaurant menus you photograph and returns estimated nutrition information, an assessment of how dishes fit the dietary preferences you set, and suggested questions to ask restaurant staff.

Everything Crumb tells you is an estimate, not a fact. Estimates are generated by AI from menu text and general food knowledge. Actual calories, macros, ingredients, and preparation methods vary by restaurant, portion, and day, and menus are often incomplete. Results can be wrong.

Crumb is not medical advice and is not an allergy safety tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or manage any medical condition, including food allergies, celiac disease, or diabetes. Never rely on Crumb to determine whether food is safe for you to eat. Always confirm ingredients, preparation, and cross-contact directly with the restaurant, and follow the advice of your healthcare provider. If you have a severe allergy, treat Crumb's flags as conversation starters, never as clearance.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Crumb. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping access to your account secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service.

Some features require a paid subscription (Crumb Pro). Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price shown when you subscribed unless we have notified you of a change.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

You keep ownership of the photos you take. By using Crumb you give us the limited license we need to process your photos, extracted menu text, and preferences to operate and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. Don't upload content you don't have the right to share, and don't use Crumb to photograph anything other than menus and food-related material.

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer, scrape, or access the service by any means other than the app and website we provide;
• resell, redistribute, or bulk-extract Crumb's results;
• interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
• use Crumb for anything unlawful.

The Crumb app, website, brand, and everything in them (other than your content) belong to Hideaway Labs and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms.

Crumb is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that results will be accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hideaway Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Crumb. This includes, without limitation, harm arising from reliance on nutrition estimates, diet-fit assessments, or allergen flags. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

We may update the service and these terms over time. If we make material changes to the terms, we will update the date above and notify you in the app or by email. If you keep using Crumb after changes take effect, you accept them. You can stop using Crumb and delete your account at any time; we may suspend or end the service, or your access to it, with reasonable notice where practicable.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Hideaway Labs is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in that state, unless applicable law gives you the right to a different venue.
